Amazon Watch

Amazon Watch is a non-governmental organization based in San Francisco and works in the Amazon basin. The organization partners with indigenous people groups and environmental group to fight for better rights of the native population.

The organization was founded after a serious of victimization of aboriginal people during projects such as oil and gas pipeline.

Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund

The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Foundation was established by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, who are the co-founders of Phoenix New Times.

The two journalists started the foundation after they were arrested by Joe Arpaio, the Maricopa County Sheriff. The duo had exposed the sheriff for political pomposity in Arizona and fear mongering amongst the Mexican.

After the court found that Lacey and Larkin were unlawfully arrested, they were compensated with $3.75 million, which they used to start the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund, an organization that fights for human rights of immigrants.

Over the years, the organization has fought for the rights of Hispanic groups who are victims of racial abuse and civil rights abuse in Arizona.
